# How to choose online EASA-aligned training

> A practical buying guide for online EASA-aligned aviation training: what to check, what a certificate means, and when classroom still wins.

Online aviation training is a good fit for knowledge subjects with a clear syllabus, a pass mark, and a named record. It is a poor fit for skills that only exist when someone is watching the work.

## Start from the role, not the catalogue

Write down the person and the job: Part-145 mechanic, CAMO technical staff, stores inspector, OJT instructor, safety officer. Then match the course to that role. A generic “airworthiness” slideshow assigned to everyone creates records that do not survive a competent-authority question.

On mxcourse.net the Part-145 and CAMO staff courses are split for that reason. EWIS is TG 1 and 2, not TG 3 to 8. Fuel Tank Safety is Phase 1 and 2 knowledge, not tank-entry authorisation.

## Check the public syllabus before you buy

A useful course page states the classroom-equivalent hours, the number of modules, the pass mark, the regulatory references, and what the course does not claim. If those facts are missing, you cannot put the certificate in a competence file with a straight face.

Every published course on this site has a public syllabus with module titles, keywords and objectives. Print it if your quality system wants a PDF on file before seats are bought.

## Keep practical training where it belongs

Crimping, tank entry, engine runs, and observed OJT are not online courses. Buy knowledge seats for the knowledge layer. Keep the skill layer in the hangar, with a named assessor.

The honest split is: online for documented knowledge; local for competence and authorisation. Mixing those two in one PDF is how training records get challenged.

### When is online training enough?

When the requirement is knowledge, awareness, or method, and your exposition allows a recorded online course. When the requirement is a practical skill or an authorisation, online training is only the knowledge layer.

### What should I keep on file after a learner passes?

The named certificate, the course code and revision, the pass mark, and a link or print of the public syllabus. Add your own competence assessment if the role requires it.
