Regulatory map

A map of EASA continuing-airworthiness training

Continuing airworthiness training is easier to buy when you can see how the parts fit. This map is a navigation aid, not legal advice and not a substitute for the current Easy Access Rules.

The core continuing-airworthiness set

Regulation (EU) 1321/2014 is the home of Part-M, Part-CAMO and Part-145. Staff who live in that system need a role-specific map, not a single mixed lecture.

On this platform, CAMO staff and Part-145 staff have separate courses. Both talk to each other — AMP versus CRS, oversight versus handover — but the scenarios are written from different desks.

  • CAMO staff course — AMP, AD status, records, ARC boundaries, Part-145 oversight
  • Part-145 staff course — tools, parts, handover, CRS, CAMO interfaces
  • Air operations familiarisation — Basic Regulation and Regulation (EU) No 965/2012 context

The usual mandatory knowledge companions

EWIS, Fuel Tank Safety and Human Factors/SMS appear in AMC and GM for personnel competence. They are not “extra nice-to-haves” for many Part-145 and CAMO roles.

Treat them as named courses with a target group or phase, then record who completed which revision. A single “safety package” slide deck that never names AMC 20-22 or FTS Phase 2 is hard to defend.

  • EWIS Target Group 1 and 2 — AMC 20-22
  • Fuel Tank Safety Phase 1 and 2 — Appendix IV to AMC5 145.A.30(e)
  • Safety and Human Factors — GM2 CAMO.A.305(g) and GM1 145.A.30(e)

Initial airworthiness, stores, security and special ops

Part-21 and Part-26 sit on the initial-airworthiness side but CAMO and Part-145 staff meet them through parts, modifications and certificates. Receiving inspection is the stores gate. Part-IS is information security with a safety link. RVSM is a special approval with continuing-airworthiness duties.

Buy those seats when the role actually touches the subject. Do not assign every course to every person as a substitute for a training needs analysis.

Common questions

In which order should a new Part-145 mechanic take these courses?

A common knowledge sequence is Part-145 staff, Human Factors/SMS, EWIS TG 1&2, Fuel Tank Safety, then role extras such as receiving inspection or FOD. Your MOE and competence list still decide the order.

Where does Part-IS sit?

Part-IS is organisation-wide information-security awareness with an aviation-safety link. It is not a substitute for EWIS, FTS or HF, and it is not an IT-administrator course.
